N227EZ is an airplane designed in the 1970's by Aircraft designer Burt Rutan. The name of the design is a Long EZ and is a composite sandwich construction of fiberglass over foam. The plane is very fast for its horse power and has a range of over 1000 miles. This particular plane was built in the 80's and has sat for over ten years without any attention. I decided to rebuild her and hope to fly her this spring
Saturday proved to be a mild day in the lower 30's with very light winds. A wonderful day to be in the woods. We hiked about 3 miles through the woods and to Wolf Swamp.
We spotted Coyote, Racoon, Squirrel, Deer, and Fisher tracks.
We got off the trail and followed the fisher tracks and came to a spot that we believe the fisher was digging around, possibly foraging for food.
We also saw open water where there was beaver activity.
We also saw Chickadee, Titmouse, Golden crowned Kinglet, Red shouldered Hawk, and Blue Jay.
It was a great day on Sachuest Point. The weather was above freezing for the first time in 2 months and the birds were everywhere. We didn't get to see the Short eared Owl but we did have great looks at the Northern Harrier. We also saw Cardinal, Robin, House Sparrow, Bluejay, American Crow, Mockingbird, Chickadee, DAFFY, oops I mean American Black Duck, Starling, Brandt Goose, Common Goldeneye, Harlequin Duck, Common Eider, Bufflehead, Horned Grebe, Common Loon (one eating a very large fish), Red Breasted Merganser, Ring billed Gull, Herring Gull, Greater Black back Gull, Mallard, Double Crested Cormorant, Canada Geese, American Wigeon, White winged Scoter and Red tailed Hawk on the way out.
Our journey ended with lunch at Nancy's dads house, and at that point everyone was hungry and as usual, there was a lot to eat! In case you missed the mushroom recipe - here it is:
mushrooms, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, olive oil, minced garlic, and a little water, cook it all together till mushrooms are soft - enjoy!
And in case you missed the whole trip - you missed a good one! Hope to see you next time!
